How does whole home surge protection work?
Unlike plug strip surge protectors, whole house surge protection is hard-wired into a home’s electrical system, enabling it to provide surge protection for the entire home. When an electrical surge occurs, the whole home surge protector works to protect all appliances and electronics by blocking or grounding the surge. Because grounding is essential to the proper operation of the surge protection system, the electrician installing it should make sure the home’s grounding is sufficient.
When should I replace my electrical panel?
Typically, electrical panels last 25 to 40 years. Those living in an older home who have panels within or exceeding this range may be due for a replacement. Upgrading an outdated or damaged electrical panel is key to ensuring a home remains safe from electrical fire and other hazards.
There are several signs that it’s time to replace an electrical panel, including:

There are not enough circuits to handle the demand
There are burning smells coming from the panel

How often should my outlets and switches be inspected by an electrician?
Electrical outlets and switches should be checked annually to ensure they're working properly. However, if any issues do arise, such as dimming or flickering lights or outlets that feel hot to the touch, it’s time to call an electrician for a checkup.
